Who We Are

Lisa Atkins
Production Director, Children Instructor, Founder
Lisa Atkins was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and received a Bachelor's of Music in Voice Performance from CU. She completed her Master's of Music and Voice Performance from Wichita State University. She has been teaching for over 20 years in K-12 music and Theater, most recently at Rocky Mountain Christ Academy, Colorado as the K-8 Music and Theater teacher. In addition, she was also Director of Youth Theater at The Art Underground, a.k.a The Arts HUB, in Louisville, Colorado.
Along with music in the classroom, Lisa has formerly served as the Conductor of the Rocky Mountain Chorale in Boulder and Assistant Conductor of the Boulder Chorale. She has also performed both the Soprano and Mezzo-Soprano solos with the Boulder Messiah Sing-Along and acted as the vocal coach for that same choir for the past 19 years. She has a passion for teaching music while making it relevant to students' lives, and connecting them to their creativity.
She believes that music is where students can learn the intangibles that will make them better citizens, better creative thinkers and problem solvers, and more courageous individuals in their future endeavors.
In addition to singing, she enjoys doing puzzles, sewing and amateur interior decorating. Lisa lives in Erie with her incredible husband, Jason, and their two remarkable kids. They attend Calvary Bible Church in Boulder, where she has been serving with both the youth and music ministries.

Kirk Slingluff
Artistic Director, Teen and Adult Production Instructor
Kirk Slingluff is excited to be a part of the ShoeString Players. Kirk moved to Colorado from New Jersey in pursuit of higher education. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Colorado getting his MA in Theatre and Performance Studies and writing his thesis on community through performance. Kirk recently graduated from Rowan University (2022) with a BA in Theatre and minors in History and German Studies. Here he explored all aspects of theatre including creation, performance, management, and production. It is also where he fell in love with Directing. He directed/created his first public piece in September 2021, entitled The Artist’s Eye. Previously, Kirk was an instructor and director at the Unitiive Theatre in Longmont, CO where he directed eleven productions between adult, teen, and all-ages shows.


Brittny Daboll
Office Manager, Instructor
Brittny Daboll is an actress originating from Alamosa, Co where her love for acting and theatre was first discovered. She decided to pursue theatre in higher education receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree through the Bachelor Accelerated Master’s program (BAM) in Theatre and Performance Studies with CU Boulder specially focusing on Shakespeare, Deaf Theatre, and Teaching. She strongly believes in Theatre Education, Improv, and the profound impact it has on student lives—both in and outside of the theatre world. She got her start teaching with Unitiive Theatre in Longmont, Co. She currently teaches Adult Improv at The Arts HUB in Lafayette, Co, and teaches Teen Improv here at ShoeString Players, as well as managing the “office,” Social Media pages, and the website. You can also find her on stage, performing.
